5 Alternative Ways to Motivate Yourself
5 Alternative Ways to Motivate Yourself Feeling unmotivated is something that everyone experiences at some time in their life. But if youre beginning to feel it more and more, then it may be time to make a change, that will boost your productivity, your motivation, and ultimately, your happiness. Weve all heard the typical motivating quotes or tips, but what are some more alternative methods of boosting motivation? Weve put together our top 5 tips on how to motivate yourself, each one with a slightly different twist from usual. 1) Pit yourself against the competition: Competing against others can be a great method of motivation for some, but often it ends up killing motivation in the long run. Instead of comparing yourself to a colleague, employer or peer, think of yourself as the main competition. Try and beat your personal best each time, and use yourself as a benchmark for results. Youll look back and be pleasantly surprised by your progress, and you wont be beat down with trying to compete with anyone else! 2) Start as soon as you wake up: Motivation and positivity go hand-in-hand. Thats why you should use your morning to create the basis for a productive, motivated and positive day. As soon as you wake up in the morning, list in your head at least three things youre thankful for in your life at that point. It may sound corny but setting your day up with a positive spin will help you stay motivated and your whole day will already have got off to a good start. Try it! 3) Move like you mean it: In a recent study, it was found that standing in a certain way/ changing your body language not only effects how youre perceived by others, but also alters chemicals in your brain, meaning youll actually feel different. Stand in your power pose, no matter what that may be. It will release chemicals in your brain. A famous piece of advice for when youre feeling down is to smile, even if its a fake one. This actually releases endorphins in the brain which make you feel happier! The same can be said for power poses. So stand like you mean it! 4) Look at failure and rejection in a new light: Some of the most famous successful people were hit by a whole lot of failures before they made it. If you hit a roadblock, try not to think of it too negatively, instead look at it as a sign post pointing you in the right direction. Use it as a motivator by changing your mindset. 5) Physically list your goals: Making lists is useful for everyday tasks it can help visualise your day and allocate your time efficiently. Lists that are made up of your long term goals are important as well display them somewhere that you look everyday, such as a bathroom mirror or on your desk, as it will keep them at the forefront of your mind throughout the day. How to Write a Self Resume
How to Write a Self ResumeTo be able to write a very effective resume, one must first master the basics of self resume writing. A resume is an essential tool in one's efforts to land a job or advance in his or her career.Although writing a resume may seem like the same thing as writing a novel, it is a different and a harder task. A resume, as with other writing, requires more than the simple stuff of grammar and style. The writing should be well constructed and include good sentence structure and good spelling. It should also be brief and not contain much information. Not everyone has the same skills when it comes to writing resumes. Some of them are good at self resume writing while others have to rely on others to provide the assistance. In order to develop their skills, they have to learn how to do it on their own. There are various types of writing that need to be done in a resume. First of all, it should contain basic information that needs to be remembered and will be used for r eferencing. This information includes the person's name, address, age, occupation, contact number, the company that he or she works for, and the number of years he or she has been working for the company. The contact information is important because it will be used by recruiters who will be contacting the candidate in the future. One has to be careful in choosing a way to make it a bit easier to read. Avoid using dark colors and even bold letters because these are indicators that it is not a professional resume. The resume has to look appealing to the eyes of the readers.Using colored fonts is always a plus because it will make it look brighter and more attractive. The term resumes is somewhat vague as well because different employers may use this term in different ways. For instance, a person working for the local fire department may have different qualifications compared to a person working in the insurance company. Employers may choose the one that best fits his or her requirement s. One's qualifications have to be understandable so it can be easily understood by the employer. When an applicant applies online, he or she must prepare the right content for his or her application. First of all, the applicant has to write down all the information that can be found in his or her resume. The material should be complete and all the information should be correct. The next step is to fill out the online form correctly. This is also a way to put up your personal profile. The next thing to do when one writes a resume is to edit it. Since it will be read by the reader, it should be worded professionally. The material should be used as a means of advertising and promotion, so it should be provided with good and enticing content. Good writing is always used to boost a person's career.

Choosing the right wedding dress as a career woman
Choosing the right wedding dress as a career woman A career woman that is getting married has all kinds of decisions when it comes to creating the perfect wedding that will compliment her style and still show that she has style that fits her career. On the other hand, this is her day, and she want to choose something completely different that will show she has another side beside the office girl everyone knows. Choosing A Wedding Dress The best thing is that women have the opportunity to save a bit of money when looking for their special wedding dress and that is purchasing the dress from last yearâs stock instead of the ones that are popular today. This does not mean that the dress will not be beautiful and of course will certainly not look out dated. As a matter of fact, you could wear your motherâs wedding dress and just have some alterations done to give it your own unique style. Of course, the wedding dress you choose must also match the venue you have chosen for the wedding. If you have chosen a beach wedding, then you want a dress that will not be quite as fancy as one that you would wear at a church or ballroom. Today, you can choose from a variety of locations for weddings and the location will often help you decide the type and style of wedding dress you will want to wear or even if you need a wedding dress. Today, couples get married parachuting out of airplanes, in hot air balloons, in the forest, on the beach, at churches, in their own backyard, and so many other locations that choosing your wedding dress may be a bit more difficult than you might think until you choose the location. Even the color of the dress, is very important as there are so many to choose from that are plain with just a few beads to very fancy with flowing ruffles and long trains. The choice of color should blend well with your own skin tone instead of being the basic white like is traditional. The traditional wedding gown is not what it used to be, which gives brides many more options as to the gown they choose. The newest trend is that the bridesmaids do not wear the same dress or color either. Many brides are giving them options such as asking them to wear something that is pinkish. This allows the bridesmaids to have various pink colors and even styles of dresses they wish to wear which will certainly make the wedding more unique and personal than the old fashioned ones where all the bridesmaid wore those ugly chiffon dresses that matched that certainly did not compliment them at all.

Can I put Elvish or Klingon on my CV University of Manchester Careers Blog
Can I put Elvish or Klingon on my CV University of Manchester Careers Blog You may think that is bonkers, but it is probably not the craziest thing I have seen on a CV. Its all about knowing your audience. There are a lot of stereotypes out there but be very cautious about including things on your CV that would only interest a few people and might put more off. You may find a few people out there who fit the stereotype but are they the people recruiting and more importantly are they the people shortlisting? Warning stereotype alert. You know that Bob in IT is the biggest Tolkein fan and is a fluent Elvish speaker, it might amuse him to see your proficiency in Elvish on your CV. BUT What if Bobs PA is shortlisting for him? Has Bob listed Elivish in his criteria or was he actually looking for someone fluent in Linux and C+. Bobs PA sees your passion for Klingon and thinks you are not taking the job seriously! HOWEVER If the job is working for Games Workshop and they want a Tolkein blogger to promote a new Lord of the Rings based game, then perhaps this skill would be a great addition and would definitely show your passion and understanding of the genre! (as long as you have the other skills!) Read the job description! Many jobs will specify clearly what they are looking for, listing desirable and essential skills, attributes and knowledge. These jobs are the holy grail when it comes to making applications. You cant go too far wrong, its all spelt out for you. On the other had there are some jobs where it is left you your imagination what they might be looking for. What they expect is that you will do your research and have an understanding of the role and the sector. Your will make your own list of criteria and your application will be based on a sound understanding of what is required for the job. I dont know what they are looking for? Id be a bit worried about applying for a job where I didnt have a clue what they wanted. If it sounded interesting though Id start doing some research Is there a website that explains what that role involves? Try the prospects website it has job descriptions for hundreds of jobs and lists both typical work activities, entry requirements and skills. Can I find similar jobs with other companies where they do give a full job description. Check vacancy sources for this profession, company websites, vacancy sites, journals, newspapers etc Is there a person listed on the vacancy for informal enquiries? If there is ring them and ask a few questions. You will be saving yourself and them a lot of time if you are not suitable. And if you are suitable it shows initiative and you will be remembered as one of the few who bothered to ring up. Do I know anyone who does this? Use your networks, ask friends, family, mentors , someone usually knows somebody who works in So now you have a list of the requirements for the job. Make sure you give strong evidence on your CV for the required skills and dont waste space talking about skills that are not remotely relevant. But shouldnt they see my personality in my CV? The CV should be a statement of facts. The way you write about them may allow some of your personality to leak out but be carefull. Keep it businesslike if they think the skills and experience you have fit their profile they will have a chance to meet you at interview. Activities and interests certainly say something about you and can be useful to demonstrate skills you have developed outside employment and study. But be sensible you dont need to list ALL the activities you enjoy, think about what the person reading it might think, they may stereotype you ! Keep the focus on the skills you gained and if by chance you do meet someone with similar interests thats a bonus. All Undergraduate Applications and interviews CV
